Frequently asked questions

Does it run true to size?

Altra gives no true-to-size rule. Its FAQ says that if the shoes don't feel a little too big in the toes at first, they're probably too small. Altra's FootShape fit has a roomy toe box with a standard-width ball of the foot, and it makes a Wide option for some other models. Try it on at our Kissimmee store. Walk in anytime.

What is zero drop?

The heel and forefoot sit at the same height (0mm heel-to-toe drop), with a 30mm stack height, for natural alignment. Altra says to ease in: easy efforts in week 1, moderate in week 2, and long or hard efforts from week 3. Some calf and foot soreness early on is normal, and you can extend the timeline if needed.

How much toe room does it have?

Altra's FootShape fit gives a roomy toe box so your toes can spread, with a secure midfoot. Altra says FootShape isn't a wide fit.

Can I use my own insoles or orthotics?

Yes. Altra says insoles and custom orthotics work, and they tend to work better in higher-volume shoes. Bring yours in and we'll check the fit.

How do I clean it?

Don't machine wash. Hand wash with mild soap and warm water without fully soaking the shoe, then wipe off the soap with clean water. Air dry at room temperature, away from heat and direct sun. Drying can take up to 48 hours. Altra says to take out the insoles and laces and wash them separately.

What is it made of?

The upper is jacquard mesh. The midsole is Altra EGO MAX foam. The outsole is rubber with FootPod technology.

How long does it last?

Altra says most of its shoes last about 300 to 600 miles, depending on use. Higher mileage means faster wear.
